A Work Of ArtThis book is a work of art. The photography so beautifully shows the detail of each specimen. It has inspired me to take even a closer look at my own collection and I have even started my own rock and mineral pictorial. When I look at the pages, no matter how many times, I still mavel at the beauty. Anyone interested in rocks, gems and minerals should have this book in their personal library.

Minerals, Trace Elements and Human Health
Published in Paperback by Essential Science Publishing (01 November, 1999)
Average review score:

Minerals are essential for human health. The importance of vitamins in human health is at last becoming recognized; but, unfortunately, minerals -- which are equally important -- are still largely overlooked. Yes, most books on vitamins give some coverage to well-known minerals such as calcium, and perhaps even magnesium and zinc are briefly discussed. Rarely, however, will books on vitamins tell you that magnesium deficiency is significantly associated with heart attacks and that magnesium is required for the functioning of 300 enzymes which regulate human health -- more enzymes than are regulated by any vitamin. Furthermore, few books on vitamins cover the full spectrum of minerals and trace elements -- including boron, lithium, and vanadium -- which are discussed in detail in this excellent little book. This book discusses minerals which are essential for good health and other minerals which are toxic, as well as minerals which are essential in small quantities but toxic in large doses. Selenium, for example, can help prevent cancer in daily microgram dosages but is toxic in mg dosages. If you are interested in using nutrients to maintain your health, think about minerals as well as vitamins. This book is an excellent guide to minerals and trace elements.

Minerals: Identifying, Learning About, and Collecting the Most Beautiful Minerals and Crystals (Barron's Nature Guide)
Published in Paperback by Barrons Educational Series (June, 2003)
Average review score:

Minerals: Identifying, classifying and collecting themThis field guide to mineral deposits is one of the best I have used. It is easy to use and it provides clear and easy identification of minerals. With over 500 color photos, the book is arranged by color streak and includes the degree of hardness, density, streak description, color, chemical formula, cleavage, crystal form, tenacity and crystal formation. Other features include a list of similar minerals and where the mineral occurs, i.e. in pegmatites. The author also gives advice on where to find minerals and the kind of equipment needed to retrieve them. Also useful is the information on how to organize a collection. The paperback format lends itself to tossing the book into a backpack for easy reference when mineral "hunting" in the field. This is a "must have" for any adventurer's personal library.

The Miracles of Minerals
Published in Mass Market Paperback by American Institute of Reboundology Trust (15 June, 1995)
Average review score:

The Miracles of Minerals: a terrific mineral resource bookAl Carter takes a dry, difficult to understand subject and uses his co-author, Larry Lymphocyte, a cytotoxic-T-cell, to enlighten not only the reader but also Al Carter about the importance of minerals to the human body. I feel people need to know why we need to take mineral supplements to ensure the health of our cells. A must read for all health conscious people. I give the book an A+. Way-to-go Al Carter.

This book is for lawyers, not for engineers!!!!This is an awesome book for those who want to understand mining agreements, their purpose and functionality. It gives you a broad knowledge about political and legal issues related to each contract scheme. As a tax practitioner, I've been able to understand the reasons beyond the mere political issues related to mining taxation.
